I used to get headaches at least twice a week. Sometimes, it was a lot more frequent. No matter how few or how many I would get, it was something that I was just never able to get used to. I would take over the counter medication, and sometimes I would have to take a prescription medication if the headache was so severe that it would just not go away with the OTC pain relievers. When my doctor told me that he wanted me to see a chiropractor in Redding because of my headaches, I honestly did not see the connection at all.
I had never been to a chiropractor before, but that was because I thought that their only specialty was back and neck pain. I had no idea that they treat so many other conditions too, including chronic headaches. My doctor was able to explain it a bit to me, but the chiropractor that I made an appointment with and saw later that week was able to put it into context a lot more for me. A lot of research has been done on headaches, and it was determined that a spinal misalignment does have a direct link with them.
Since a chiropractor is the specialist who is able to do adjustments to help the spine realign properly, it just makes sense to see a chiropractor in tandem with my primary care physician in the treatment of them. I just thought that I would have to live with these headaches the rest of my life, but I am so relieved to have found relief from them. I still do get headaches, but I may go months without one now. I continue to get regular adjustments at my chiropractor too, and I truly feel better now than I ever have before.
